Dialogue with a Stream

The concept of the architectural image is based on a combination of contrasts. The compact volume of the kindergarten building combines smooth and flowing surfaces, like a stone that has been exposed to water and time. This is a response to the proximity of the site to the existing stream.

The kindergarten is surrounded by residential areas on the east and west sides and a recreational area with a picturesque stream is located on the north side. These factors influenced the concept of the territorial development and the shape of the facility.

Design site

The key feature of the preschool design site is its proximity to a recreational area and a water body (the Pravaya Berezovaya River).

The kindergarten building is located along the long side of the site. It acts as an urban planning insert that creates a continuous street front and avoids empty spaces. The building is positioned near the southern boundary of the site and divides the area into two main functional zones. One part of the site faces the residential area and contains the main entrance area, as well as playgrounds for younger children. The other part faces the recreational area with a water feature and includes playgrounds for older children and sports areas. The playgrounds are grouped in pairs according to the age of the children. An additional study area with bird feeders and mini-gardens, as well as a separate exit to the recreation area, provide opportunities for additional classes and nature research.

The through passage and spacious lobby in the center of the building provide functional connectivity and enhance the usability of the building and the territory. The center of the facility features a multi-light space that serves as a recreation area with a play grid. This space is intended for children of different age groups to meet, play, and socialize.

The façade of the building is designed in a single color to accentuate the combination of smooth and flowing lines of its overall composition. Glass fiber concrete panels add a tactile and durable touch to the façades.
