The unique feature of this project is the integration of the object into a complex relief, as well as the formation of the spatial structure of the kindergarten building on the principle of a school: a compact block with group cells and an autonomous module with public functions.

The key features of the site are its complex configuration and 9.9-meter elevation difference. The site consists of two terraces, each with access, which creates connectivity through the territory. On the first (upper) terrace, there is a main entrance area to the kindergarten building, playgrounds for younger children and a utility area. On the second (lower) terrace, there are playgrounds for older children and sports grounds. A retaining wall separates the terraces and serves as an additional play element. The connection between the levels is provided by stairs and a slope ramp for people with disabilities.

The site is located between Voronezhskaya, Bondarya, and Trekhgornaya streets in Krasnoflotsky district of Khabarovsk.

The key features of the site include its location on a slope with a cross-sectional elevation difference of 9.9 m, as well as the surrounding residential areas and a school on the southern side of the site. The area of the site corresponds to the regional urban planning standards of Khabarovsk Territory.

Factors in the formation of the volumetric-spatial structure of the PEI (Preschool Educational Institution):

the connection of pedestrian flows from the pedestrian boulevard (the north-eastern part) and residential quarters (the south-western part), passing through the PEI building;
the principle of terracing the relief: the formation of two planes with a 3-meter difference;
the principle of forming a volume inscribed in the environment: the continuation of the terracing of the improvement in the volume of the building;
formation of the volumetric and planning structure of the building, creating viewpoints from the gaps in the surrounding residential buildings.

The key feature of the functional and planning scheme of the preschool emphasizes the social function. The rooms for music and physical education classes are separated from the main block of the preschool and open into a second-floor lobby, with entrances located on the pedestrian axis of visitors. The multifunctional space on the first floor provides convenient and comfortable conditions for children, parents, and educators to interact during celebrations and other children’s and adults' projects. Using the rooms does not disrupt the main educational process. The premises are designed to provide favorable conditions from both a functional and aesthetic perspective.

The expressive architectural image is formed by the terracing principle, which is applied both in the volume of the building itself and in the organization of the territory and landscaping. The multi-level structure reflects the identity of the location: in this area of Khabarovsk, there is Orekhovaya Sopka, a hill about 150 meters high. The idea of mountains continues in the playground pattern.

The landscaping concept and the volumetric and spatial solution of the building form a whole image through the use of broken lines, terracing, and partial reversal of the volume of the building to the diagonal transit axis. The volume of the building represents a layered step-like composition, which also refers to the context of the place — Orekhovaya Sopka and the stratification of rocks theme. The planning structure includes a compact, three-story block with group cells, a connecting module for recreation and the lobby, as well as a public block with a music hall and a sports hall, which can be combined into a single room using a transformable partition. The façade solutions emphasize the idea of layering, with two main materials used in the decoration: large-format porcelain tiles and profiled metal panels. The color scheme of the façades (gray-beige and green) is inspired by the nature of Khabarovsk Territory and the image of Orekhovaya Sopka, the natural context of the area where the project is located.
