The Quarter on the Embankment

Different building morphotypes are used to create expressiveness and a wide range of apartments in the project. Large accent towers with a large number of apartments per floor are placed at the corners of the block and serve as urban planning accents. The regular sections form the background development within the block. The “water” façade is formed by corner towers and a nine-story urban villa with larger apartments. The upper floors of the view apartments have terraces that add dynamism to the silhouette of the building and complement the functionality of the apartments. The block includes an attached kindergarten, and a part of the yard of the residential complex is allocated for playgrounds.

The concept of the façades is based on a reinterpretation of Yekaterinburg as a powerful industrial hub and a center of avant-garde architecture. The first floors of the buildings facing the embankment are accentuated by columns and stained glass windows that add individuality to the appearance of the building and enhance the functionality and versatility of the public spaces on the first floor. The columns and the overhanging part of the building reference the avant-garde heritage and serve as navigation elements, effectively highlighting the block. The corners of the towers are highlighted by volumetric curtain façade elements made of metal panels, referencing Yekaterinburg's metallurgical industry. To create a diverse urban landscape, we designed individual façade patterns for each section, combining expensive and basic finishing materials, as well as different types of open balconies and air conditioning baskets. The use of restrained yet contrasting colors contributes to the harmonious integration of the complex into its surroundings.
